Following a successful initial rollout in workplaces across the UK, Perkee Coffee has previously only been seen within the foodservice industry. With sustainability and the empowerment of women at its core, Perkee Coffee has launched into the consumer market, starting with Amazon.

An award winning coffee with sustainability at its heart

The Soppexcca coffee, which is Fairtrade certified, has already won 2 stars in 2018 and one star in 2020 in the Great Taste awards for both caffeinated and decaffeinated which are available in form of whole beans or filter.

Soppexcca’s aim is to empower women farmers who make up nearly 40% of its members. The sale of Perkee Coffee generates Fairtrade premium which is then ploughed back into education, diversification into cacao (to mitigate climate change), social enterprise, women’s health screening, organic compost manufacture and youth farming programme. This has created an ambitious and sustainable future for the next generation.

Perkee has also won the Support Global Farmers Award in 2018 from the Sustainable Restaurant Association for its work with the female-run farmers who grow Perkee coffee beans. The main roast is a single-origin 100% Arabica bean from Jinotega, Nicaragua. It is roasted in small batches to give a slight acidity with around dark chocolate flavour and a toasted peanut aftertaste.

Miguel Camara, Coffee Brand Manager, said: “After the excellent response we’ve had serving Perkee Coffee in workplaces across the UK, we are delighted to be able to offer our product to other coffee lovers. We actually decided to take this product to general sale as a reaction to demand from customers who insisted we offer them the opportunity to purchase it for use at home. It tastes great, and, thanks to our partnership with female farmers at Soppexcca, it places ethics and community at the heart of a cup of coffee.”
